After reading the materials for this week, I was propounded that we here at UCLA have done research about the brain and how we can build it. Just as we build muscles by working out in the gym we can make our brain stronger by meditating. Another influential reading was the book Art, Mind, and Brain: A Cognitive Approach to Creativity. This book brings the art of meshing together your mind and being able to accomplish tasks with the help of thinking through ideas before attempting them. The last resource I found influential was "Consciousness Involves Non computable Ingredients", talking about consciousness doesn't necessarily have to be your running around but thinking about the key components of life.

Our brain is always growing

I learned many things this week, first of all being what near science actually is. I also never thought of the brain as a muscle you can actually build and make stronger. Reading this fascinated me, making me realize all the possibilities we as humans have with our ability to create art upon increasing our nervous system. I was also informed how the visual arts, literature, film, science and society are all intertwined affecting one another every day. The neuroscience findings influence our lives and then we get feedback to the scientists who further their education on humans.

  1. I really like how you were able to relate strengthening your mind with strengthening your body by working out. This really gave me a clear understanding on what message you were trying to get across. Great post. Really connected with this one.
