Event #3

Event #3 Mikey and I at the Week or No Signal event. This incredible, miraculous event shocked me when I walked in the door. This event hit almost every single topic we have covered in this class starting with robotics. Upon walking in the door there was a robot under construction and it was moving without anyone controlling it. Also when I walked in the door I saw a shopping cart doing circles without anyone pushing it, showing the revolution of technology amongst us humans. " This exponential increase in quantity of information confirms what all of us feel: that the web has been the game-changer" (Rapidly Changing Present). Demonstrating the  influence  of the internet to enhance our capabilities as humans and share our research so fluidly. This event will happen a little with my final project because there was a few presentations involving space but not too many.  This shirt demonstrates the possibly advancements in shirts to come. This was by far my favor

The Museum of Jurassic Technology The entrance of the Museum of Jurassic Technology. The lady at the desk didn't want to take a picture. This event was a great experience because it made me realize how the topics me cover in class is actually applicable in real life especially two cultures. I say it relates so well to two cultures because at this museums showed so many different ways people made and invented technology way back. Plus, it brings in how people actually believed the art of love and animals could be controlled with making powder out of their remains or obtaining their eggs from animals. " The term “science” also entails people aiming high" (The Third Culture). Which  people of all ages have been trying to do and it is shown within the museum as years grew people and their art and technology grew. People believed this potion could make bring love to the one who's needs it. David Bohm also mentions "cr eativity cannot be define

Week 9 Space + Art

Week 9 Space + Art The goal is to be on Mars very soon and put life there. Moore, Claire. “Research Paper: Life on Mars and the Challenge of Space Exploration.”  Citations by Questia , Lorraine Savage Http://Blog.questia.com/Wp-Content/Uploads/2014/09/q-Blog-Logo-300x47.Png, 5 Oct. 2015, blog.questia.com/2015/10/research-paper-life-on-mars-and-the-challenge-of-space-exploration/. This is one of my favorite topics in the entire world being that we don't know the universe around us and we are constantly learning about it everyday. What is so interesting is every planet is its own artwork in itself having different features from rocky to being a giant gas planet. " Every time we feel close to understanding Mars, new discoveries send us straight back to the drawing board to revise existing theories" (NASA). The solar system is a  masterpiece  having all the planets orbiting the sun and all rotating at the same time. Also the attempt to pull of zero gravity and cr

Week 8 NanoTech + Art

Week 8 NanoTech + Art This is a great example of how nanotech is explained with creations of its own. Maria. “BioTech 177.”  COLLECTIVE BREAD DIARIES: A TASTE OF PROTEST | UCLA Art | Sci Center + Lab , artsci.ucla.edu/biotech177/blog/?p=782. I learned many ideas this week, first off, what nanotechnology actually is and what the purpose of this technology is. The speech that most influenced me was the Paul Rothemund speech on TED Talk. When he speaks about how possibly folding the DNA to create a brand new strand it is actually so incredible and almost unimaginable to think of. Well not necessarily new but creating and altering someones looks or how they will turn out by just making one slight difference in it. Which can eventually lead to our human race creating the traits that we want in whatever substance it may be including us humans. Creating more art for the human race to invent and discover. All different types of molecular computers which Paul Rothemund spe

Week 7 NeuroSci + Art

Week 7 NeuroSci + Art Where the nervous system receptors  is throughout the brain. “Future - Neuroscience.”  BBC News , BBC,  www.bbc.com/future/tags/neuroscience. After reading the materials for this week, I was propounded that we here at UCLA have done research about the brain and how we can build it. Just as we build muscles by working out in the gym we can make our brain stronger by meditating. Another influential reading was the book Art, Mind, and Brain: A Cognitive Approach to Creativity. This book brings the art of meshing together your mind and being able to accomplish tasks with the help of thinking through ideas before attempting them. The last resource I found influential was "Consciousness Involves Non computable Ingredients", talking about consciousness doesn't necessarily have to be your running around but thinking about the key components of life. Our brain is always growing if we allow it to. Goodwin, Daniel. “Why Neuroscience Needs H

COTSEN INSTITUTE OF ARCHAEOLOGY OPEN HOUSE One of our main tour guides and I. Great Guy. This event opened my eyes to so many different ideas and essentially where we got our creative and artistic minds from. This event mostly dealt with week 1 being two cultures combined into one which is life in general. The constant development and advancement of technology everyday to make us more intelligent. This event will help me with the final to think how something can be so basic but so incredibly diverse and beautiful and make me think how an invention doesn't need to be incredibly complicated to bring something new into the world and alter peoples thought processes. This painting demonstrates how people felt at the time. I would highly recommend this event because it opens eyes and turns heads right when you walk in the door with the creations all relating to so many different cultures. This event gave me the ability to get insight on a culture that is very articulate and

Just having a great time at the LASER presentation. I attended the Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous which opened my mind up to so many different ideas and thought processes of many intelligent intellectuals. The main two presenters that impacted me were Maru Garcia and Kelly Nipper. They blew my mind with their ability to relate art so well to science and how much they affect each other everyday. Plus, it fit right into what we covered in week 6 readings of MedTech. The pictures they presented and covered as they spoke to us had to deal with how the human race is affected by everything outside of it. Marus presentation involving what she is now researching. LASER just gets my mind roaming and thinking what I can do for my final and gave me many great ideas that were just confirmed by the guest speakers. I would fully recommend this event because all four of the presentations were very interesting, and made you really think about how far technology is advancing everyda
